Fitzroy Falls car park full: Plan B without illegal parking
What to do when Fitzroy Falls day-use is full — named Plan B (lookouts later, Belmore, Bundanoon, or leave). Not a roadside parking guide.

If the Fitzroy Falls day-use area is full, you already have a decision — not a puzzle. This is the parking filter: name Plan B before you leave Wi-Fi, use it the first time the lot is full, and treat formed lookouts as a complete day when you do get a space.
This article is unofficial. Live parking rules, closed roads and track status live with NSW National Parks and on-site signs. We do not invent overflow lots or “secret” pads.
Not walked as a field diary. Planning from official visitor logistics and the known weekend failure mode at this precinct.
The decision (first sentence)
Full signed parking at Fitzroy Falls means: leave, retry later, or switch to a named Plan B — Belmore Falls lookouts, a Bundanoon forest walk, or a town reset. It does not mean inventing a verge park on Nowra Road.
Write Plan A / Plan B on paper the night before. Plan A is Fitzroy lookouts (optional short West Rim only if open and energy remains). Plan B is already chosen.
What is not Plan B
Pigeon House (Didthul) is not Plan B for a full Fitzroy lot. Different gateway, different fatigue, different day.
Off-track “we saw a gap in the trees” is not parking. Neither is the visitor-centre bus lane.
A Bundanoon gully after 3pm when you are already cranky is usually a second failure, not a save.
If you do get a space
Pay entry as directed ([VERIFY] live Fitzroy fee). Hide valuables. Main formed lookouts are the win. Reverse if weather or edges go ugly.
On-site closed-track signs beat this article. Official vs the sign: the sign wins.
FAQ

Can I wait in the lane until a space appears?
Do not block access, emergency routes or pay-machine queues. If the signed lot is full, execute Plan B or leave and retry later — [VERIFY] on-site directions. This is not legal advice.
Is Belmore always empty when Fitzroy is full?
No. Fine weekends can fill both. Belmore is a named Plan B only if you already accepted it before you left Wi-Fi — not a revenge drive.
Is West Rim Plan B for a full car park?
No. You cannot start a rim walk you cannot park for. West Rim is a longer product after a legal park and the main lookouts.
