Park overview
Updated
Morton National Park is a large sandstone-plateau and gorge park across the Southern Highlands, South Coast and Illawarra — roughly 199,000+ ha. Most day visitors sample one precinct well rather than “doing the whole park.” Use this hub to pick a focus, then verify conditions on the official NSW National Parks park page.
Recommended order: pick your first product (usually Fitzroy Falls lookouts) → decide half-day vs full-day energy → check parking, entry fees and alerts → add Belmore or a short Bundanoon loop only if buffer remains → treat Pigeon House (Didthul) as its own South Coast day.
Traditional Custodians: Yuin people. This site does not speak for Traditional Owner groups — verify deeper cultural context on official and Traditional Owner sources.

Fitzroy Falls
First-timers, families, short lookout circuits, West Rim style walks, visitor centre orientation, photography in decent light
The day-visitor core of Morton National Park: visitor centre, formed lookouts over a major sandstone waterfall and gorge, and short rim-style walks that deliver the park’s classic Southern Highlands postcard without a multi-day trek.
2–4 hours for lookouts + short rim walk; half day if stacking Belmore or a longer rim circuit

Belmore Falls
Waterfall photography, lookout stops, Fitzroy + Belmore combo days, visitors based near Robertson or Kangaroo Valley
Waterfall lookouts on the Robertson / Kangaroo Valley approach side of Morton — a classic add-on to Fitzroy Falls or a quieter highlands lookout stop when you want gorge drama without the busiest Fitzroy midday pulse.
1–2 hours for lookouts; half day if paired with Fitzroy Falls

Bundanoon & northern escarpment
Rainforest and escarpment walking, Fairy Bower and historic track interest, NPWS camping at Gambells Rest, visitors wanting a northern Morton base
Northern Morton National Park around Bundanoon: rainforest and escarpment tracks (including Fairy Bower style walks), day-use entry logistics, and Gambells Rest campground nearby — the practical base for multi-hour forest walking without a South Coast summit day.
Half to full day for main Bundanoon tracks; overnight if camping at Gambells Rest (booked)

Pigeon House Mountain (Didthul)
Fit walkers, summit views, South Coast day trips, visitors who want a Grade 4-ish challenge rather than waterfall platforms
Southern icon of Morton National Park: the distinctive summit of Didthul (Pigeon House Mountain) near Milton / Ulladulla — a fitness-required day walk with steep sections and ladder-style infrastructure when open, not a casual lookout stroll.
Most of a day including drive, climb, summit time and return — [VERIFY] published walk times on NPWS

Remote plateau & Budawang edge
Experienced bushwalkers, navigation-competent groups, quiet days away from waterfall crowds, people who already understand remote NSW sandstone country
Quieter sandstone plateau, gorge and wilderness-edge country in the wider Morton landscape — experienced walkers only, navigation skills required, and strict stay-on-signposted-tracks discipline including UXO restricted-zone awareness in parts of the south-east.
Full day minimum for meaningful remote walking; multi-day only with proper wilderness skills and permits where required
